New Breed Record - October 10th 2015

On October 10th 2015 a new breed record was set when Clive Mitchell of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire paid 3,200gns for a homebred shearling tup from the Bradley flock of John Pickard of Great Harwood, Lancashire.

This dark-faced homebred tup was sired by a tup Mr Pickard had purchased at Clitheroe from Jim Greenwood, Ripponden a number of years ago.

The well boned tup had been placed 3rd in the showring but when it came to the sale ring there was only 1 winner on the day.

The tup showed itself well in the ring and bidding started at pace, rapidly reaching 1,000gns.  The tup had clearly caught the bidders attention with a number all jostling for their chance to purchase and it soon reached 2,000gns and didn't seem like stopping.  The previous record of 2,850gns which had been achieved by a shearling tup sold by Philip Read of Walsden, had stood for over 10 years but was rapidly eclipsed as the bidding went on to reach its climax at 3,200gns.  Congratulations to John Pickard on setting this new benchmark.
