Derbyshire Gritstone Sheepbreeders Society

First tup to hit 4,000 guineas

Saturday October 8th 2016 saw a new Derbyshire Gritstone Sheepbreeders Society record for the highest price when Tim Harding sold his homebred shearling Spittle 69 to Megan Needham for 4,000gns.

The long standing record of 2,850gns held by Philip Read had only been broken in 2015 when John Pickard sold his homebred shearling for 3,200gns.

This outstanding price and the buzz that was witnessed around the ring suggests that the breed is seeing a real increase in popularity and demand.
